Alabama Style Twisted Spareribs

  • Step 1

    Pour can of tea into medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat; boil until reduced by half, about 8 minutes. Pour reduced tea into bowl and place in freezer to cool.
  • Step 2

    Whisk mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons garlic pepper, and horseradish into tea. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Step 3

    Heat oven to 300oF. Season ribs with smoked paprika and remaining garlic pepper. Add salt if not in garlic pepper. Place ribs, meaty side up, on foil-lined shallow baking pan.
  • Step 4

    Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until very tender. Slather with Twisted Alabama Sauce every 30 minutes.
  • Step 5

    Remove ribs from oven and let stand 30 minutes to cool. Wrap in foil and refrigerate until tailgate time.
  • Step 6

    Remove ribs from foil and place over medium heat on grill. Grill until internal temperature reaches 165ºF., turning occasionally, 15 to 20 minutes.

  • 2 racks Smithfield® Pork Spareribs
  • 1 (12-oz.) can Twisted Tea® Half & Half Hard Iced Tea
  • 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons garlic pepper seasoning blend, divided
  • 1teaspoon horseradish (optional)
  • Smoked paprika
  • 1 handful peach or apple wood chips for smoking, soaked in water and drained (optional)
